History
LimeChain was founded in 2017 in Sofia, Bulgaria. The company initially focused on protocol-level engineering, SDKs, and blockchain infrastructure.
Early clients included Procter & Gamble, Raiffeisen Bank, and Propy. By 2022, the team had grown by 50% year over year to more than 100 employees. The company subsequently expanded to over 150 team members and established a presence in the United Kingdom.
In late 2019, LimeChain joined the Hyperledger project and the Linux Foundation. In January 2020, the company was admitted as one of eight Hyperledger Fabric Certified Service Providers worldwide. That year, LimeChain also launched LimeLegal, a joint venture with Progressive Lawyers focused on blockchain legal advisory services.
In 2024, LimeChain was ranked 327th in the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 EMEA. One of the company's co-founders was accepted into the Endeavor Network, a global community supporting high-impact entrepreneurs. LimeChain's clients have included Procter & Gamble, which used the company to implement smart contracts for its claims management system, and IMVU, whose in-game token developed by LimeChain received a no-action letter from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in 2020. The company also built Project Diamond, an institutional digital asset platform for Coinbase Asset Management, deployed within the Abu Dhabi Global Market regulatory sandbox.

LimeAcademy
LimeAcademy originated in 2018 as a blockchain developer training initiative created by LimeChain in partnership with Telerik Academy. In 2021, LimeChain relaunched LimeAcademy as a standalone program for training experienced software developers in blockchain development.
Industry Affiliations and Recognition
LimeChain is a member of the Linux Foundation and a Hyperledger Fabric Certified Service Provider. A LimeChain co-founder served as a maintainer of the Baseline Protocol, an open-source enterprise synchronization initiative under the Ethereum OASIS Open Project, and the company developed a proof-of-concept integrating Google Sheets with Microsoft Dynamics 365 using the protocol. The company has received grants from the Web3 Foundation, the Arbitrum Foundation, and StarkWare, which named LimeChain the first recipient of its $1 million OP_CAT Research Fund in 2024.
