History
Lidings was established by two lawyers Sergey Aksenov and Andrey Zelenin who both previously worked in the Russian law firm Legas Legal Solutions (later Magisters).
In 2006 the year when Lidings was founded it initially specialized in real estate, corporate and commercial law, and arbitration and litigation. In less than five years the firm grew to more than 20 lawyers providing specialist advice across nine dedicated practice areas:
- Real Estate and Construction
- M&A, Corporate and Commercial
- Litigation and Arbitration
- Employment and Labour Law
- Intellectual Property
- Banking and Finance
- Legal support for foreign investment in Russia
- Tax and Customs
- Government relations
In 2007 Lidings was the first Russian law firm to establish Turkish Desk which became a unique subdivision providing specialist, dedicated legal services to Turkish businesses operating in Russia. This was a logical step considering evident presence of Turkish companies in such Russian key sectors including construction, banking, consumer goods retail, energy, manufacturing and logistics.
During the four years this practice group formed to advise Turkish companies in Russia has increased the number of Turkish companies being advised by the firm up to 20% of the firm’s total client base and at this moment Lidings is one of the most recognizable law firms in the Turkish business association in Russia.
Lidings currently advises more than 140 international clients and corporations (including a number of Fortune 500 companies) in the IT and telecommunications sectors, the oil and gas industry, and in engineering, pharmaceuticals, banking and finance, and real estate, including 3M, ASUSTeK Computer, Autoliv, BNP Paribas, Boehringer Ingelheim, Credit Agricole, DuPont Corporation, Exxon Mobil, Foxconn Technology, GEA Group, Huawei Technologies, Imperial Tobacco, ING Group, Japan Tobacco International, Kia Motors, Korean Development Bank, McDonald’s, Norsk Hydro, OMV Group, Pioneer Corporation, Radio France, Royal Dutch Shell, Seiko Holdings, Telegraph Media Group, TeliaSonera, Tetra Pak, Ulma Construccion, UniCredit Group, Yokogawa Electric, and Zeppelin.
