Les Noces de tôle

Les noces de tôle is a play written by Claude Meunier in 2003. The humour of Meunier offers a big contrast with the themes explored in the play, as cheating, troubled relationships and betrayal. The the play was first shown in the Théâtre Jean Duceppe in 2003. These representations started on April 16 and ended on June 7. Plot

Mireille, 53 years old, is a happy and successful woman in life. She organizes a party for the 50th anniversary of her husband, Pierre, as well for their 25th marriage anniversary. As the guests arrive, old tensions resurface, leading the joyful atmosphere of the party to slowly drown. As the festivities continue with great difficulties, Pierre finally shows up with big news that leaves no one indifferent.

Cast

  • Mireille (Pierrette Robitaille): 53 years old woman. She is really successful in life and believes she is so in her love life.
  • Élyse (Diane Lavallée): Mireille’s best friend. A psychiatric nurse, she is very fragile since her divorce from Jacques.
  • Jacques (Marc Messier): Mireille’s brother and ex-husband of Élyse. He is a gynecologist and is now in a relationship with a young woman, Loulou.
  • Loulou (Pascale Desrochers): A 26 year-old woman. She is a medical secretary and the girlfriend of Jacques.
  • Dino (Luc Guérin): Young Italian man. He is Élyse’s boyfriend.
  • Pierre (Martin Drainville): Mireille’s husband. He is fifty years old.
  • Anne (Hélène Bourgeois-Leclerc) : Pierre’s friend. She is in her thirties.
