Leonie Industries Wins Suit Against Former Consultant

United States District Court Judge Robert G. Klausner ruled in favor of Leonie Industries, Camille Chidiac and Rema Dupont, concluding the legal challenges brought forth in 2010 involving their father, Charles Chidiac and his business associate, Kassem Al Khalil. The judge ruled that Leonie Industries, LLC is solely owned by Camille Chidiac and Rema Dupont and that Charles Chidiac and Kassem Al Khalil have never been officers or employees of Leonie Industries. In March 18th ruling, Leonie Industries, Camille Chidiac and Rema Dupont are entitled to attorneys’ fees.

Based on what is contained in the official court documents, the judge made the right decision in this case. In March 2010, Camille Chidiac and Rema Dupont sued Charles Chidiac and his business partners to clear up any questions about the ownership of Leonie Industries, LLC, a privately-owned communications consulting company.  Charles then sued his children separately.

Court records show that despite being served, neither Charles nor his legal counsel responded to the original suit with any evidence to dispute the original claims of his children. For that reason, the court found Charles in default and ruled in favor of Camille Chidiac and Rema Dupont.

As someone who has personally experienced the frustrating and time-consuming nature of family feuds, I’m glad to see that the court found that the father’s claims had no merit. It seems most especially odd and disturbing to me that Charles Chidiac included potentially defamatory and personal attacks on his own children. Based on the findings of the case, it’s clear that the father never backed up the claims and that no one on either side of the legal case found any basis for them.
