Learn10
Learn10 is a system for language learners which enables members to quickly develop a durable learning habit. Learn10 CREATES new content every day, limited to the length of a text message. This is distributed across the web and beyond via a popular Facebook application, widget, email, iPhone webapp, Twitter feed, affiliate ‘adverts’, as well as competitions, a windows screensaver & Seesmic videos. Learn10 creates user engagement in learning by encouraging cooperation and competition between learners.
The learning technique is the same methodology as brand exposure leading to brand recall, used throughout the advertising industry.
Ten words a day are taken from a list of the thousand most common English words. Learn10 is suitable for those who are starting to learn a language, or those who want to revise their vocabulary, rather than more advanced learners, who are not catered for.
The idea was conceived on the 31st January 2008. The most recent beta release of Learn10 included sound, tests, grammatical information and a record function and was provided as a mix of free and premium services..
The first beta launch of the Learn10 widget met with mixed responses from the highly critical to the enthusiastic . Learn10 was included as a language project by UNESCO in 2008, International Year Of Languages..
In January 2009 the product and company were rebranded from Learnit Lists to Learn10 due to the frequency of other companies using Learnit to signify 'Learn I.T.'. Learn10 was selected because of singularity, brevity and the Ronseal effect - i.e. "Does exactly what it says on the tin".
