LEARN Program

LEARN Program, which stands for Launching Entrepreneurs Across Rural Networks, is a program sponsored by the U.S. Department Of Labor and Alabama Department for Economic and Community Affairs for displaced workers and veterans. Its mission is to stimulate economic growth within the state of Alabama by helping expand businesses throughout rural communities.

By applying to the LEARN program, applicants are telling LEARN that they want to fix their own hours, set their own salary, and make a difference in the community. The program assists these applicants by offering entrepreneurship training, business counseling, and technical assistance to help get their business off the ground.

The steps below outline the process for the LEARN program:

1. Register by contacting the closest Career Center or apply online at www.learnala.org

2. Attend Orientation by watching the video online or at your loval Career Center

3. Apply for the LEARN grant

4. Assessment after acceptance in the program to test your current business knowledge

5. Training for those who receive the LEARN grant in business planning, marketing, cash flow management, and operations management

6. Business counseling through 1-on-1 meetings with experience business experts

The LEARN Program is an Equal Opportunity Program and funded through the U.S. Department of Labor and Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs, and implemented by The University of Alabama’s MIS program.
