Lauren Briggs (footballer)
Lauren Rebecca Briggs (born 24 April 1996) is an English professional footballer who plays as a defender and midfielder for Durham in the FA Women's Championship.
Club career
Briggs was part of the Durham development team that won the Under-16's Trophy, playing in the final in a 3-2 victory over Kent.
Briggs made her 50th senior appearance for Durham during the 2020/21 season. On June 27 2021 Briggs signed a one year contract extension with Durham for the 2021/22 season.
Briggs scored Durham's first league goal of the 2021/22 season against Championship newcomers Watford.
Briggs played during Durham's record highest scoring Championship win in the 7-1 fixture against Coventry United.
As of December 2021, Briggs is the 12th most used player in Durham's history.
Despite typically being a centre-back, Briggs has played largely at left-back due to injuries on fellow teammates Abby Holmes and Becky Salicki during the 2020/21 Women's Championship season.
