Lana Toković
Lana Toković was born November 29, 1966 in Belgrade where she has successfully completed music and singing school . She was a member of drama group in the class of professor Miodrag Aleksić. Toković began her professional music career as 16-year-old girl, first at Radio Belgrade Studio 13, and then at Radio Belgrade Studio 6 where she became the youngest producer and music editor. After that her involvement in this field has continued in two music companies from Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Also, she became, in a very short time, the youngest soloist in Radio Belgrade Jazz Orchestra, but she decided to devote herself to the music producer profession. During her professional career she recorded more than 40 permanent phono records for Radio Belgrade library. In the meantime, she opened her own music studio in Belgrade for composing, producing and recording music.
Toković is the founder of the music group "Lana and Aldo” and in period 1994 till 1999 issued seven music projects for leading National Record Company PGP-RTS, which were published in 13 different music editions (CD, VHS, MC, CD) as follows:
- "Black album" in 1994.
- "White Album" in 1996.
- Compilation "Lana and Aldo" in 1996.
- "Violet music" in 1997.
- "Lana with friends" in 1997.
- "Hot Universe" in 1998.
- "Piano & Me" in 1999.
Music group “Lana and Aldo” was highly ranked in music circles, especially after two solo concerts at the Concert Hall “Dom Sindikata” and hotel "Hyatt". Solo concert at the hotel "Hyatt" was released on VHS tape in 1997. Both concerts were broadcast on all national television stations all over former Yugoslavia.
Toković participated in numerous music festivals and won awards as a vocalist, composer and songwriter.
She recorded music for few dozen show programs and documentaries, participated in live broadcasts on more than 300 humanitarian concerts all over former Yugoslavia, Serbia and Montenegro, Serbia and Kosovo and Metohija.
Her concert “New Year’s pop-rock spectacle - Lana and friends" drew great public attention because Toković gathered the most important pop, rock and folk music stars performing world's music hits.
During her career, she also wrote music for animated films and commercials. She composed The Yugoslav Air Force hymn named "Let all pilots fly". Her music has been an integral part of the spectacle "Miss Yu" held in 2006. She also wrote and writes music for national (Radio Television of Serbia) and regional (Skay Plus and TV Most from Zvečan) television stations, as well as music for Serbian Government Office for Kosovo and Metohija projects - music in the form of solemn hymn for reception high-ranking government officials, music for documentary and promotional films related to the events from Kosovo and Metohija.
Toković retreated from the public scene for several years, and committed herself to the creating of the unique sympho-rock opera in three acts, which represents the entire scenic work of art performed by Major Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra Choir with opera and ballet soloists. Her aim is that this musical achievement (the first Serbian sympho-rock opera) becomes the cultural heritage of Serbian people.
She was also engaged in creation of the project "Filigrees from the south" - traditional folk songs from Kosovo and Metohija performed by Milica Milisavljević Dugalić, which was released in 2015. for National Record Company PGP-RTS. Toković composed harmonies and music based on poor and inadequate sheet music and original music tracks. She made modern arrangements and gave fresh new sound to forgotten songs and traditional sound toward preservation tradition and beauty of Kosovo and Metohija melodies.
Composer Toković every day works in her studio on various projects - songs for theater performances, animated films, music for television and radio broadcast, original music, music for other artists of all genres (Maja Odžaklievska, Zorana Pavić, Vanesa Šokčić, Jasna Đokić, “Old Hat Orchestra” and many others), as well as the latest project - adaptation of Israeli national hymn.
Toković takes a significant place among music critics and artists, both due to her musical opus which includes over 400 composition, as well as she represents an extraordinary vocal soloist and composer.
Toković', with her present music group "Lana", in early 2016, released new music edition "Between Time" published by National Record Company PGP-RTS, where she appears as complete author and producer. With this project, she returnes to music scene with all musical and vocal abilities and potentials to set new standards in performing and creating music.
