LAMILUX Heinrich Strunz Group
LAMILUX Heinrich Strunz Group is a German company known for manufacturing Daylight systems and Fiber-reinforced composites. “LAMILUX” is the company’s registered brand as well as the trading name of its products.
History
The LAMILUX Heinrich Strunz Group was founded in 1909 by the carpenter Heinrich Strunz in the Upper Franconian city Rehau, which is located in the administrative Hof. After implementing a saw mill in 1918 the company produced timber constructions and therefore applied numerous patents.
In 1941 Rudolf Strunz, son of the founder Heinrich Strunz, took over the management and expanded the company in 1955 with a production line for glass-fibre reinforced plastics. Rudolf Strunz extended the timber construction business Heinrich Strunz GmbH to a company which is also belonging to the plastic sector and is producing corrugated sheets and roof light domes made of glass fibre reinforced plastics in numerous variations. Lamilux became a nationwide supplier for the building industry.
In 1985 Heinrich Strunz became acting partner in the third generation of the family-operated business. The production line for corrugated sheets was converted to a production line for a new composite material called “LAMILUXplan”.
In 1990 Lamilux started with the development and construction of continuous roof lights in the business sector daylight systems. In the glass fibre reinforced plastics sector, the production was completely switched to plane, in a continuous process manufactured composites.
Since 1994 Dorothee and Heinrich Strunz are running the company together. The product range in the daylight system sector was expanded with glass roof constructions and control technology for building automation. Since 2000 after including glass roof constructions in the product range, Lamilux became involved in building projects more often.
In 2009 Lamilux celebrated its Centenary. Between 2011 and 2012, the company expanded its production capacity for glass roof constructions and continuous roof lights. In 2011 the company Pecolit located in Schifferstadt with 60 employees was taken over by Lamilux. Pecolit was integrated in the Lamilux Heinrich Strunz Group in 2013.
In 2016 Lamilux generated a turnover of 230 million Euros. Currently the company has over 870 employees.
