La série Montréal-Québec
La série Montréal-Québec is a Québécois reality TV show broadcast by TVA since January 24, 2010. The show, promoted as a "rivalry TV show", pits two hockey teams, one representing Montreal and the other Quebec City.
Not only betting on the rivalry between the two cities to make this TV show a hit, the production staff also bets on Quebec's national pride by talking, for example, about the "country of Quebec" in Quebec City's anthem. In addition, in order to counter a heavy movement of integrating English-language songs that dominates especialy in French-language TV series and in Montreal Canadiens games at the Bell Centre, only French-language songs are played during the games of the TV show.
Concept
The concept was created by Stéphane Laporte, who also developed Star Académie's adaptation in Quebec. The show recreates the rivalry that existed between the Montreal Canadiens and the Quebec Nordiques in the National Hockey League until 1995, when the Nordiques moved to Colorado.
The match commentator is Pierre Rinfret, assisted by the analyst Yvon Pedneault. The principal referee is Ron Fournier.
