Kvist (band)
Kvist was a black metal band from Norway. Never gathering a large following, their epic and melodic sound was a large influence on the modern black metal sound and can be heard influencing groups such as Deathspell Omega, Taake, Shining, and others. Kvist is a Norwegian word roughly translating to 'stick' or 'twig'.
History
Kvist formed in 1993, and released a self-titled demo cassette in 1994. At this time, Kvist's only member who would continue to Contribute to the black metal scene, Trondor Nefas, left. The band then released their one and only full-length album, entitled For Kunsten Maa Vi Evig Vike on Avantgarde's label. Quickly thereafter, the band dissolved. None of the members who made the album went on to participate in other black metal projects.
