Kokusai kempo
Kokusai Kempo, founded by Master Ueki, is a Japanese martial art that finds it roots in Chinese Kung Fu. Kokusai Kempo is an offshoot of Shorinji Kempo. The focus of Kokusai Kempo is free-style situational defense as opposed to Shorinji's formatted situation defense. Students of Kokusai Kempo learn kicking techniques, punching techniques, and self defense techniques, (both armed and unarmed). One of the major differences is the number of juhou (defensive joint locks) one learns. In Shorinji Kempo there are a lot of different juhou that one can learn. There are over hundreds of these to learn. With Kokusai Kempo, the basic understanding of the principal behind the juhou is what is taught. The easiest, and quickest, way is the best way to defend oneself. All other "juhou" branch out from the basics that are taught in Kokusai Kempo. There are two tournaments held every year in Oita, Japan. All tournaments are supervised by Master Ueki.
