KOI-494.01
KOI-494.01 is a recently discovered candidate exoplanet in the constellation of Cygnus. If its existence is confirmed it could be the most Earth-like planet yet at 99% ESI (Earth Similarity Index).
Basic characteristics
KOI-494.01 has a mass 15% higher than Earth and a radius of 5% more than Earth. The temperature of KOI-494.01 is similar to Earth; Kepler data gives a mean surface temperature of 14°C (1°C less than Earth). KOI-494.01 could not only be habitable, but also quite comfortable for humanoid life to thrive there. KOI-494.01's existence is currently unconfirmed. If it does exist, it is 1250 light years away.
Current status
On 25 April, 2012, the University of Puerto Rico’s Planetary Habitability Lab published new Earth Similarity Indices based on newly received information, KOI-494.01 was removed from the list of potentially habitable planets.
