Knut Pani

Knut Pani (b. Mexico City, 1956) is a Mexican painter and sculptor.

Biography

Knut Pani, son of the architect Mario Pani Darqui, assisted Lothar Kestenbaum in San Miguel de Allende in 1975, and edited the architectural magazine "Arquitectura/México" from 1976 to 1979, in close collaboration with Mathias Goeritz. In 1979 he joined the Art Center College of Design, where he graduated in painting and illustration in 1983. In the same year he established an experimental sculpture workshop, named "Trazo" in his home town. In 1985 he became art director of the Museo Rufino Tamayo, and taught as professor of the Universidad Anáhuac from 1985 to 1988, where he also established also an experimental sculpture workshop, alongside Alejandro Arango and Franco Manterola. In 1993 he founded the graphic workshop "El pez soluble" and "El pez soluble arte mural" in Tequisquiapan. He gave his first single exhibition of sculpture in 2001, and he was awarded with the "Lorenzo il Magnifico" medal at the III Florence Biennale.
