KISS Foundation

The KISS foundation stands for Kalinga Institute Of Social Studies. It is the largest residential institute for tribal people in the world. It provides accommodation, study, career development, healthcare to 20,000 tribal students each year in its largest integrated residential campus,which is located in Bhubaneswar. The foundation follows the "Art of Giving", a humanitarian and selfless philanthropist concept of simple living and high thinking . This idea was brought up by Achyuta Samanta founder of Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences in his early age of five and is now made public through a video.

History

Achyuta Samanta, born into a deprived, widowed family of eight, won a scholarship to study chemistry, then began KIIT with $100 in his pocket and KISS with 125 children in 1992. With dorms and classrooms for thousands of students, the campus is a large township in northern Bhubaneswar. Achyuta Samanta is setting up 20 KISS branches in Odisha’s tribal areas. Work has started in Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Delhi. His new aim is to educate 200,000 adivasi by the end of this decade.
