Kieran Murphy (musician)
Kieran Murphy is a virtuoso musician/guitarist hailing from Melbourne, Australia. Best know for his ability as a solo acoustic guitarist, he has been touring internationally since age 15, and has has recently toured the USA as opening act for Tommy Emmanuel on his '07 Summer tour to Critical Acclaim. Kieran is now more frequently drawing on his strong funk influences, and is also following one of his mentors, Michael Franti, in the development of the singer/songwriter aspect of his act.
Biography
Kieran has thus far released 4 albums, the latest, 'PER SE', gathering massive sales on recent tours to Japan and the USA. All tracks on 'PER SE' were composed, arranged, produced and performed by Kieran.
At just 18 years old, his career is already well advanced on a world scale. Kieran has recently toured as opening act for Tommy Emmanuel's USA summer tour, receiving standing ovations night after night. The tour included the now famous four-day Tommyfest, with Kieran once again sharing the stage with Tommy in a celebration of guitar music.
Following rave reviews from his tour performances with Michael Franti & Spearhead in Australia, he was recently invited to perform with the group at the massive Bonnaroo Music Festival in Tennessee USA, alongside other MusicAL giants such as Ben Harper, Ziggy Marley, and The Police.
The recent USA tour has elicited numerous invitations to perform at European festivals and to tour around the globe. To quote the liner in the album, 'PER SE', for Kieran, 'this is just the beginning'.
