Kids (Transformers)

The Kids are fictional characters, young humans that ally with the Autobots in the various Transformers universes.

Transformers: Generation 1

• Buster Witwicky - The role played by the young Spike in the animated series was filled in the Marvel comic book series by his younger brother, Buster, exclusive to that continuity. Indeed, Buster was fully intended to exist in place of Spike for the comic book series, until the release of the Fortress Maximus toy in 1987, which included Spike as a Headmaster partner, hence necessitating the hurried introduction of Spike into the comic book continuity.

• Spike Witwicky - The most famous of all the Autobots' human allies, Spike Witwicky was fourteen years old, aiding his father, Sparkplug, in his work on an offshore oil rig when the Transformers entered his life in 1984. A Decepticon attack on the rig left Spike and Sparkplug in peril where they were rescued by Optimus Prime. Afterward, they offered their friendship and aid to the Autobots, teaching them AbOUT the ways of Earth. Spike had a lot to learn about the robots in disguise, however, as one of his first actions saw him unwittingly bring the disguised Soundwave into Autobot Headquarters. He later aided Hound in battle against Rumble. When the Autobots were planning to return to their home planet of Cybertron, he intended to go with them.

• Jessie Witwicky - Buster Witwicky's girlfriend and later wife.

• Carly Witwicky - Spike Witwicky's girlfriend and later wife.

• Daniel Witwicky - As they entered their twenties, Spike and Carly were married, and in 1993, Carly gave birth to a son, Daniel. As Spike himself grew older, his experience and closeness to the Autobots saw him appointed Earth's official ambassador to Cybertron, but as the Autobots pressed their attack to reclaim Cybertron from the Decepticons in 2005, the 35-year-old Spike was stationed on Moonbase Two, which was attacked and consumed by the planet-eater, Unicron. Wearing a transforming "exo-suit" battle armor, Daniel rescued his father before Unicron was destroyed.

• Butch Witwicky - Sparkplug Witwicky's youngest son who appears in the 1985 Forest Rescue Mission coloring book published by Marvel Books.

Transformers: Robots in Disguise

• Koji Onishi - Son of Doctor Kenneth Onishi, Koji (Yūki Ōnishi) allied himself with the Autobots after his father was kidnapped by Megatron, offering them advice and knowledge about Earth. A bright child, Koji has learned a lot about archeology from his father, though he possesses no special powers, beyond a startling knack for being right where he needs to be, in the middle of coincidental Predacon attacks. When Dr. Onishi was freed from Megatron's clutches, it seemed Koji's role in the Transformer war was over, until he found himself able to control Fortress Maximus.

Transformers: Armada

• Bradley "Rad" White and Carlos Lopez were the two best friends who reactivated the Mini-Con ship while exploring the caves outside their city. Soon joined by their friend Alexis (Alexa), they befriended the Street Action Team Mini-Cons as Megatron and Optimus Prime's forces arrived on Earth. This led to their alliance with Optimus and the Autobots, as they frequently helped them on missions, teaching them the ways of Earth. Unfortunately, they were unable to keep their friendship with the Autobots a secret from the local bullies, Billy and Fred (Jim), but the two boys quickly softened and became friends with the trio, as they too became Autobot allies. An encounter with Sideways in cyberspace gave the kids their first glimpse of Unicron, and when Starscream joined the Autobots, they all became friends with him, even though Starscream himself could scarcely believe it. Alexis in particular became enamored of the former Decepticon, even crafting a portion of a rock he brought them back from Mars into a pendant. After some protests that were quelled by Perceptor, all five kids accompanied the Autobots to Cybertron when the Decepticons fled Earth with the Mini-Con weapons, and once on the planet, they were sent drifting through time and discovered that they had always played a role in the development of the Mini-Cons, and that their coming to Earth had been predestined. Starscream's subsequent death upset Alexis severely, and when the children were absorbed by Unicron, Rad was able to use his connection to High Wire through Unicron's communal mind to free the Mini-Cons from his thrall. They also had cameos in a few episodes of the sequel series Transformers: Energon. And at the end of Transformers: Cybertron, the sequel to Energon, they were seen watching the Autobots leave to establish a new Space Bridge. This scene in Cybertron was not seen in Japan, as Cybertron was not part of the same Continuity as Energon and Armada at the time of Galaxy Force's (Cybertron's Japanese counterpart) original airing, but it has been recently retconned into the same universe in the Japanese time line as well.

Transformers: Energon

• Chad "Kicker" Jones - the son of Doctor Brian and Miranda Jones, Chad "Kicker" Jones was taken to Cybertron by his father when he was still a young child in the early days of the alliance between Earth and the Transformers. Terrified of the robots, Kicker fled, but wound up stumbling into the chamber of Primus, the sentient energy core of Cybertron, who bestowed upon him the ability to sense Energon. Kicker was subsequently used - a little too offhandedly - by Doctor Jones to locate Energon deposits, leading the boy to bear a grudge against his father, and against the Transformers. When the Terrorcon attacks on Earth began, Kicker insisted that he be allowed to fight alongside the Autobots, and was given a battlesuit to protect him by his father. Unsure of what to do with the boy, Optimus Prime partnered him with Ironhide - something that neither of the two was happy about at first, but eventually, they became close friends. Throughout the series he overcame his fear with the Autobots and becomes a great friend with them. Kicker also developed a close bond with Alpha Q when he met the alien, Alpha Q helps him to open his eyes, stop being so stubborn and listen to his father and brokered the truce between him and the Autobots - when Alpha Q recreated the worlds destroyed by Unicron, he fashioned a world of grass and plains, based on an image of Kicker's childhood taken from his memory. Also, a mutual attraction exists between Kicker and Misha. Voiced by Masumi Asano (young), Daisuke Kishio and Brad Swaile.

Transformers: Cybertron

• Coby Hansen (voiced by Samuel Vincent in English and by Yukiko Tamaki in Japanese) is the primary human character in Cybertron. The character has been used in the television series, comic book series, and collection of children's toys manufactured by Takara Tomy in conjunction with Hasbro. In the series, he is a mechanically-inclined 14-year-old who is often called on by the Transformers to do repairs. He lives in Colorado with his younger brother, Bud, and older brother, Tim and enjoys dirtbike racing and has worked at a mechanic's shop. Coby and Bud, along with their friend, Lori (the only female of the series), befriended the Autobots after finding and aiding the damaged Landmine. He develops a friendship with Landmine, and aids Hot Shot on Velocitron. Later in the show, he actually refits a destroyed Scrapmetal as his own personal vehicle called the Cobybot ("Cobyrumble" in Galaxy Force), earning himself an Autobot Commission and an active role in the battles after he used it to save Bud, who was trapped among the Decepticons. He is very protective of his little brother Bud.

• Bud Hansen -Coby's younger brother, Bud is a kid through and through. He likes things that kids like, and he daydreams like kids do, although in Bud's case, his daydreams often become reality thanks to his friendship with the Autobots. Very little can phase Bud - his unrelentingly positive attitude keeps him from worrying too much about anything, even the possibility of his own demise. As the ending credits of the final episode show, he won an Academy Award for the documentary he produced about his adventures.

• Lori - The most level-headed of the group, she keeps Coby and Bud under some degree of control. As a city girl, she was not best pleased when her parents moved from a city to a small town in Colorado, but the adventures she had with the Transformers soon took her mind off that. Along the way, she gains a friendship with Override, and forms a connection with Scourge - both refer to her as "little sister". She even developed a rivalry with the female Decepticon Thunderblast. The ending credits show that she and Coby eventually get married.

2007 Transformers film

• Samuel James "Sam" Witwicky is a fictional character and the protagonist of the Transformers film series. He is portrayed by Shia LaBeouf. In early versions of the script, Sam had the nickname "Spike" (the name of the main character in the original Transformers series). This idea was later scrapped because, according to writer Roberto Orci, these nicknames were appropriate for a mechanic and an oil rig worker in the animated series, occupations in which the characters did not work in the film. He fights alongside the Autobots in the Battle of Mission City, and ultimately defeats Megatron at the end of the first film. According to Roberto Orci, the character of Sam was written as a "2007 version of Marty McFly". Despite being the main character, the reaction to his presence in each movie is generally mixed from critics and fans.

• Mikaela Banes is a fictional character from the Transformers universe. She is differentiated from "typical" women in her age group, having inherited mechanical skills from her father, Cal, a grease monkey and paroled car thief. The character is portrayed by Megan Fox in the first and second films and serves the role of Sam Witwicky's first love interest.

• Carly Spencer - Rosie Huntington-Whiteley portrays Carly Spencer, Sam's new love interest in Transformers: Dark of the Moon. She is portrayed in a nicer way than Mikaela as she is described as someone who loves Sam for who he is, and not just for the Transformers. She is English, and is based off the character from Generation 1. At the end of the film she convinces Megatron to turn on Sentinel as he has taken all of the power for himself. After the climax, she reunites with Sam and confesses her love for him.

Transformers Animated

• Sari Sumdac - Originally female protoform which patterned itself after a human scientist, Professor Isaac Sumdac came in contact with it, resulting in the birth of a "techno-organic female clone" of Sumdac (part-human, part-Cybertronian), which he secretly adopts as his daughter. Unaware of her cybertronian origins (believing herself to be human), she befriends the Autobots. While on their ship, she finds the All Spark which scans Sari, but can only identify her key card as mechanical. The AllSpark bestows some of its own powers onto Sari Sumdac's key card - one of which allows the card to recognize when an Autobot is injured, and initiate seemingly-impossible repairs (according to field-medic Ratchet) - which reformats it into a curative spark key allowing her to heal Transformers. She helps them adjust to living on earth and aids them in protecting Detroit (and Earth). After her father is kidnapped by Megatron, it is revealed to her that there was no record of her existence. The Autobot tried to figure out why Sari has no documentation of being Professor Sumdac's daughter. Bumblebee suggested Sari is an alien and Bulkhead suggests Sari is a robot created by Sumdac. This led to wondering of who is Sari's mother. The truth is revealed when her arm is injured (while saving her father from the Decepticons), with the most of the skin peeled back on her elbow, revealing what appeared to be damaged, crackling circuitry. Professor Sumdac tells her how he found a "liquid metal being", which Prowl revealed them to be a cybertronian protoform. She later upgrades herself using her key (in order to fight alongside the Autobots), transforming her into a semi-robotic teenager. In this upgraded form, she possesses a teenage body (which functions like a techno-organic powersuit) equipped which energy-based roller blades & weapons. Her robotic-looking helmet can also dematerializes to reveal her human face. It is believed she possesses both human DNA & an Cybertronian spark.

Transformers: Timelines

In this universe, the Decepticons are good and the Autobots evil. To keep with the nature of this storyline, the Witwicky family is a family of car thieves.

Transformers: Prime

• Jack Darby - a 16-year-old high school student. He is brought into the Autobot-Decepticon conflict after accidentally getting caught in a fight between Arcee and two Vehicons. After initially being reluctant to get involved with the Transformers, Jack comes to accept them as friends and allies as he forms a close bond with his Autobot guardian Arcee. He is voiced by Josh Keaton

• Miko Nakadai - a 15-year-old foreign exchange student from Tokyo, Japan. She is loud and reckless, often following the Autobots into dangerous situations and showing little to no regard for her own safety. She has a strong friendship with her Autobot guardian Bulkhead who acts as a parental figure towards her. She is voiced by Tania Gunadi.

• Rafael "Raf" Esquivel - a highly intelligent yet shy 12-year-old boy who has an extensive knowledge of computers and machinery. He comes from a large family who ofen ignore him, so he spends a lot of time with his Autobot guardian Bumblebee, being the only human character in the series to understand Bumblebee's speech impediment. He is voiced by Andy Pessoa.
