Kensingtonvision community interest company
KensingtonVision is a local Social Enterprise, a CIC (Community Interest Company)which was set up in May 2007. Initially Kensington Vision was a community media project managed by Liverpool John Moores University International Centre for Digtial Content (ICDC)funded by NWDA Merseybroadband.
This pilot project ran from January 2005 to April 2006 and was highly successful at developing an innovative community web portal, which had at its' centre over 300 community produced videos which played unusually for web based video, in high quality and full screen.
The project did several other things,
- It gave a away ("absolutely free") 150 high speed broadband connections away to the local community,
- Gave away 100 freeview set top boxes where people could view a STB version of Kensington Vision's site.
- It operated a scheme where the local community could borrow video gear and laptops to edit videos with.
- It finished by producing "The K Factor" a talent show which culminated in a show at which 1200 screaming and shouting people turned up to cheer for the local talent

After the demise of the project Steve Faragher, Wendy Miller and Siimon Sprince looked into setting up a new KensingtonVision as a Social Enterprise and after much deliberation it was decided to make it into a Community Interest Company, which duly happened.
KVCIC has been involved making videos for groups and organisations, working in collaboration with other groups like Yellow House, METAL, Kensington Fields Community Centre, Likely Alliance. The biggest success so far has been KVfm 87.7 an RSL (Restricted Licence Radio Project)which ran from 19th to 30th Novemeber 2007.
The studio was built in the local McDonalds much to the surprise of everyone.
Over the broadcast period there were over 90 presenters and over 160 people, organisations, etc were interviewed and highlighted "on air".
It was a fantastic success, everyone loved being on it, listening to it- as well as being available to listen to on FM, streamed on the internet, reading the blog http://www.kvfm.wordpress.com. listening to it all again via the podcasts http://www.kvf2007.mypodcast.com
