Kemerovo Institute of Food Science and Technology

The Kemerovo Institute of Food Science and Technology (KemIFST) is an institution for higher education in Kemerovo, Russia. Established in 1972, KemIFST is one of the leading institutions in higher education and research, particularly in the training of engineers for the food and applied biotechnology industries.

Kemerovo Institute of Food Science and Technology has approximately 10,000 students, offering a total of 24 Bachelor and Master Degree programs. Seventy percent of the teaching staff have academic degrees, including Candidate or Doctor of Sciences. Thirteen professors are members of the Russian Academies.

Clubs and Societies

There are various student clubs and societies at KemIFST, including:

  • Student Scientific Society: for students who are fond of science and research
  • Entertainment Club: for those who love to organize or participate in concerts
  • Volunteer team “Krasnaya Gvozdika”: for students who have an active social position and are keen on not-for-profit work
  • Student guard team “Partner”: for students who want to assist the police force
  • Search and Rescue Team: for those who want to assist on rescue missions
  • “Marketing Planet” Club: for students who are interested in topics/issues surrounding the marketing and advertising industries
  • Cookery Club “HoReCa”: for those who have a great passion for cooking
  • Student team “TEMP”: for active students who love to work with children (i.e. in children's homes and summer camps)

Additionally, KemIFST has a student newspaper "Event", KVN team "Cambridge" (KemIFST team), student club, student council and several ongoing social projects. The concert program "Student Spring" KemIFST (directed by Bulova L.S.) won first place at the regional festival "Student Spring" in the Kuzbass in 2008, 2010 and 2011.

KVN team "Cambridge"

KVN team "Cambridge" are the champions of the Open City Youth League (OCYL) Kemerovo, the league champions "KVN on the Yenisei River" (2008), participants of the festival "KVN-Asia" (Krasnoyarsk), and champions of the regional KVN league "Kuzbass" (2010). In 2010, after a successful performance at the XX KVN festival in Sochi, the team passed into the second round of the festival. At the end of the festival, "Cambridge" was invited to play in the television program "The First League" in Minsk. At that time the team also played in the "Asia" league. In both leagues "Cambridge" reached the final. In 2011,the team played in the KVN tournament "The Higher Ukrainian League" (HUL) and in the league "Asia". In 2012, "Cambridge" was invited to “The Higher KVN league” on Channel One. The team took 4th place in the 1/8 finals; however, they were invited to the 1/4. The team tried again to take part in the 2013 KVN and season and took 4th. They won the 1/4 and took 1st place, gaining the highest possible score.

Sport

KemIFST has a Sports Club that offers sporting resources and activities such as a gym, a sport hall, volleyball, badminton, athletics and cross-country skiing teams.
