Kelvin Braam
Kelvin Braam
Kelvin Braam ( born June 9, 1987) is a Dutch model and DJ. Braam walked the runways for big designers such as Vivienne Westwood, Tommy Hilfiger, G-Star, D&G, Jean Paul Gaultier and Givenchy.
Early life
From the age of 11 until 16, Braam danced regularly and his practice brought him on a high level. Around the age of 17 he started modeling in a advertisement for C&A, a dutch fashion retail company and he was also seen in advertisements for Lower General Secondary Education. These experiences motivated him to do more with his talent for modeling but he questioned his ability to become a model because of his height. Braam wasn’t exactly the tallest person but around the age of 18 he began to grow and he started working out.
One day while he was sitting in the train, Braam was reading a article about modeling, and this inspired him even more. One of his closest friends had a lot of modeling jobs through the agency Max models, so he searched for modeling agencies online. He contacted the agency Tony Jones, unaware that this was becoming one of the biggest agencies for male models around that time. The agency wanted to work with him right away.
Music has always played a role in his life. In his younger years he rapped a lot. He then got started making music and played the piano for several years, eight to be precise, and performed his skills as a pianist. Following, he learned to play the drums. You can hear these influences in the music that he makes nowadays as a DJ under his alias Sann Diego.
Modeling Career
After four years of modeling, Braam has already worked with some of the biggest names in the fashion industry. He has also appeared in magazines like Mate Magazine, Elle, Winq Magazine, Avantgarde, AD Sportwereld and Blend.
In 2006 Braam walked the runways for Vivienne Westwood, Bally, Diesel, Wolf van Benthum, Emily Hermans and Blueblood. In 2007 he did the same for Tommy Hilfiger, G-Star, Diesel, Daryl van Wouw , Braam went to Milan in 2007 for his career and in June he appeared in a lot of editorials and photo shoots . In March, 2008 he starred in a worldwide campaign for Adidas Footlocker. He also starred in a worldwide Sensation White Wicked Wonderland campaign in 2009. Braam was also present at the Fashionweek in Paris 2010, where he walked the runway for Jean Paul Gaultier’s Fall/Winter show. .
His long term career goal is to be able to be a part of campaigns for the biggest brands, commercial and haute couture, so that he can become successful enough to establish his name in the modeling world. He also wants to make the demand for black male models bigger than it is right now, so that he can create more chances for guys like him.
Music Career
His ambition and strong will to become successful is significant for his personality. When he’s not modeling he is busy making music. When he was 20 years old he mostly played and remixed hip-hop. When Pioneer came out with a new system to create music, he started making his own since this was a lot easier. He practiced at home and made video’s which he later uploaded on Youtube. Because he already knew many people in the music world, one of them being Jay Serano, he got a chance to play his own set with a friend that he has known since his youth. Braam and his friend played their sets every week in Silly Symphonies in The Hague and this worked out great. Unfortunately his friend changed directions but for Braam it wasn’t just a hobby. So Braam continued and met a new friend that owned a company that also organized parties and was interested in Braam as a new co-worker. He started to become well known and he tried to add new contacts to his network every chance he got. He started to create a fan base that came to (beach) clubs just to see him play. For that fanbase, Braam is known as his alias Sann Diego. Under this alias Braam produces afro tech minimal, techno and deep house.
With his good looks and great personality and of course his talent as a DJ, he surely can become one of the most successful DJ’s around. He is currently working with his friend Steveland Thode, also known as Deep Ended, on new tracks so that they can release them later this year. Braam and Thode make their productions together. This collaboration works amazing because Braam and Thode have the same taste in music and their ideas align.
Recently, a new collaboration came into existence with Ish Records. So the tracks will be released to the public very soon, through sites like: Itunes and Traxsource. Be on the lookout and keep checking these sites!
