Kellie Everts White House Fatima Speech (1978)
On June 16, 1978, the Author, preacher, stripper, and bodybuilder Rasa Von Werder (then known as Kellie Everts) preached a message about Our Lady of Fátima in front of the White House in Washington, D.C, intending to bring about the conversion of Russia and – by extension – preventing a potential nuclear World War III. The overall gist of the message was: "Pray the Rosary for the conversion of Russia, or nations will be annihilated." The speech was attended by, and noticed by, enough people (including the Associated Press, who documented and sent it) to be covered in The Washington Post, The Washington Star, Playboy, and elsewhere, making headlines across the United States, and is still discussed decades later, including in The Rialto Report as well as Binghamton University's student newspaper.
Background
The original message of Our Lady of Fatima, first revealed in 1917 as the Three Secrets of Fatima, included a strong warning that if Russia was not consecrated to God via the Immaculate Heart of Mary, it would then spread its "errors" throughout the world. According to Catholic Stand, these "errors" have been widely interpreted as referring to Communism.
Much planning went into this event. Everts's acquaintance at the time, Betty Jane Allsup (better known as Honeysuckle Divine) who had first seen her on television, played a crucial role in this historic speech. She arranged for it and initially applied for the permit for the event before Everts had even arrived in Washington.
