Keep 6

Keep 6 is a Canadian progressive rock band from Edmonton, Alberta that was formed in early 2006. The ambitious band is exploding onto the music scene for their intriguing lyrics, intense live performances, and the ability to translate that live energy onto CD. They cite their MusicAL influences as Protest the Hero, Dream Theatre, Coheed & Cambria, Avenged Sevenfold, The Mars Volta, Megadeth, Alice In Chains, and Led Zeppelin.

History

Keep 6 evolved from the collaboration between long time friends Scott Chalmers (guitar) and Jay May (drums). In 2005 the pair met up with Matthew Dean W. (bass) and he was added into the fold, fusing the instrumental core of the group. Later, lead singer and lyricist Shorre McColman (vocals) joined, establishing the final component of the band.

In 2007 they independently recorded their debut album Humanifesto at Levelless Records in Edmonton, Alberta, produced by Vail McColman. The track “Without Being Human” from the album was a finalist in the Canadian Radiostar Songwriting Competition.

Keep 6 has since played in multiple venues across Alberta, including Boonstock '07 and '08 which also included the bands, Three Days Grace, Alexisonfire, Econoline Crush, Social Code, illScarlett, Ten Second Epic, and more.

They are currently working on their second album, which Shorre promises will be “heavier, softer, faster, slower, more melodic and yet more raw, an all out variety assault”.
