Kaznova
Kasmario Fankis born 12 March 1991, professionally known as Kaznova, is a South African DJ and record producer.
Personal life
Kasmario Fankis was born in Welkom, Free State on 12 March 1991, His mother, Rose Ntombizonke Fankis, is a black South African Zulu, and his father Arthur Fankis was a Black American of Nigerian and Liberian descent.
Music career
At the age of 16 he discovered a new love for House Music and started collecting enormous amounts of records.
Kaznova surrounded himself by like-minded people and people who would inspire him. He would attend events which he wanted to play at and study what and how the DJs would play so that he could go home and perfect his craft.
In 2010 Kaznova attended the Soul Candi Institute of Music where he studied Advanced Music Production and Music Business. This helped him understand the production side of the music industry.
In 2012 Kaznova entered the Strongbow/ YFM DJ Mega Star Search competition and came in at second place. Later that year he won the Tshwane University of Technology BlackBerry DJ Search, he then joined the QHradio.nl family, based in the Netherlands, where he co-hosted the Essential Groove Radio Show with his Sole Groove Records partner, Marcelo Ortiz. They used this platform to showcase the best in South African House music.
In 2014 Kaznova produced a song for The Layders called Puff The Jones which rose to the number one spot on YurbanTop40 on YFM.
In 2015 Kaznova produced a song for Justin Chalice called Be Yourself which also rose to the number one spot on Metro FM Dance countdown and Entered the YurbanTop40 on YFM.
In 2016 he produced a song for NaakMusiq called Give and Take which features Xoli M and Donald, which is currently out on NaakMusiq’s sophomore album: Born to Entertain.
In 2017 he produced Morena the Squire’s 2nd single titled Makhe which features Mo – T from Micasa,he then went on to produce a song alongside Euphonik which featured the Nigerian pop artist Praiz on Euphoniks Perspective album and his long overdue Single titled Kulungile was released on the 29th of October 2017.
