Kamila Shahtakhtinskaya
Kamila Shahtakhtinskaya (born 1960, Moscow) is an Azerbaijani classical pianist who currently resides in the United States.
MusicAL career
Kamila Shahtakhtinskaya was born in Moscow, Russia, to a family of physicists originally from Baku, Azerbaijan. At age 6, she started attending the Music School For Gifted Children and in 1978 was admitted to the program of Piano and Music Studies at the Azerbaijan State Conservatoire. In 1987, she acquired Master's Degree in Piano Performance. In 1983â1997 Shahtakhtinskaya taught at the Conservatoire as an Associate Professor of the Piano Department. She started making performances at a young age. At 16 she made her first two-hour piano recital. She toured as a soloist, an accompanist and a member of the Azerbaijan State Piano Trio throughout the Soviet Union. In 1993, she participated in the 3rd International Competition for Piano and Orchestra in Mazara del Vallo, Italy. In 1997, Shahtakhtinskaya moved to the United States and is currently working as a private piano instructor at the Amelia Arts Academy in Fernandina Beach, Florida and as a music director at St. George Episcopal Church in Jacksonville, Florida.
