Biography
Mutuku was born in Kenya on March 4, 1993. He grew up in a rural Kenyan community with three brothers and his single mother. He spent his childhood in Machakos, a zone inhabited by the Kamba people in Eastern Kenya, where he developed an appreciation for nature and witnessed increasing water scarcity. The challenges his family faced due to shifting climatic conditions inspired him to engage in environmental activism. He is a graduate of the Environmental Conservation and natural resource management program at the University of Nairobi, and has cited the work of climate activist Wangari Maathai as an inspiration.
Mutuku is currently the regional director for Africa at Youth4Nature, a global initiative promoting youth-led nature-based solutions.
His organization, Green Treasures Farms, promotes sustainable environmental practices and income generation among rural Kenyan women and youth through organic farming, biodiversity conservation, tree growing, environmental education, and water harvesting.
