Kalpit Veerval
Kalpit Veerval (also spelled Veerwal) is a student from Udaipur in Rajasthan, India who shot to fame in April 2017, when he topped the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) with a perfect score of 100% (360/360 marks). He is the first student ever to attain this perfect score in JEE-Main. The success rate in the exam is AbOUT 0.92% in IITs (2017). This exam has been termed the "Mother of all exams" and "one of the toughest exams in the world" by New York Times.
The JEE examination is regarded as among the toughest examinations in India and is primarily to gain entrance to the undergraduate (bachelor degree) engineering programs at institutes of national importance such as The INDIAN Institutes of Technology, National Institutes of Technology or Indian Institutes of Information Technology. JEE-2017 was attempted by more than 1 million students.He got 106th rank in JEE advance in open category and 1st in SC category.
In previous years, Kalpit had also topped the Indian National Junior Science Olympiad (INJSO) at the all-India level during Class 9, and the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) during Class 10.
Family
His father Pushkar Lal Veerwal is a compounder at Maharana Bhupal Government Hospital Udaipur, and his mother Pushpa Veerwal is a government school teacher.
Strategy for preparing for JEE
Kalpit shared his approach saying:
- "I have been studying in Kota's Resonance since my 8th class". He took a number of mock tests administered by them. He had nearly 100% attendance there. He actually did not go to Kota, but studied at Resonance's Udaipur Study Center because "I didn't want to take studies as a burden. I wanted to enjoy what I learned".
- "I hardly used to study 6-7 hours per day. I used to take proper food and sleep and my parents were round the corner with me to ensure that I stay fit"
- "I used to play badminton and cricket regularly but stopped watching television. I also surfed internet to increase my knowledge"
