Kajonk-A-Con

Kajonk-A-Con, abbreviated KAC, is a three day multigenre convention that takes place in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Programming

Kajonk-A-Con has the usual popular events, including a cosplay contest, AMV contest, Voice Actor Q&A, and raves. As well as their own KAC Idol Contest, which is the newest addition to the con. They also have a wide assortment of concerts, guests, workshops, game tournaments and panels.

History

Damian Zannini, Cristen Thrasher and Elton Cranfil founded Kajonk-A-Con in 2006. Their mission statement or motto was shown as quoted:

"For anime viewers, console, PC, and tabletop gamers, and would-be developers/voice actors/animators, no other convention delivers an enriched level of hands-on communication with those in the industry and an unprecedented amount of entertainment throughout the weekend. Kajonk-A-Con comes from those who thought that there should be more to a convention than what is always offered."

For its first year, the con was held at the Knoxville Convention Center. It was a small event as there had not been much time for the founders and their staff to plan the event, but aside from its size, the convention was a success. However, the following year, Kajonk-A-Con was cancelled and a formal apology was posted on the site.

The dates for 2008 were announced for December 5-7, hoste at a new venue, the University of Tennessee Conference Center. The attendance is recorded to have increased by 500%, thanks primarily to word-of-mouth and increased advertisement. Events included a Boy's Love/Girl's Love panel, a mock trial in lieu of Phoenix Wright, two concerts, and a cosplay competition.
