Juror Haji Mohammed Motasin Ali Lodi

Haji Mohammed Motasin Ali Lodi was born at January 1874 in a famous Muslim family of Karimgonj sub division, British India. His great- grand-father Taleb Mohammed Lodi settled Mathiura in Karimgonj sub division. Sheik Mohammed Lodi, father of Taleb Mohammed Lodi was an Islamic scholar in Dilly. He travelled south east part of British India for propagate and teaching sunni Islam. Ibrahim Lodi was his ancestor.

 

To evaluate a person and his work it is extremely important to have the knowledge of social structure, economy, politics, geography, education, peoples and communication of his time. 

 

Haji Mohammed Motasin Ali Lodi was a juror in British Indian Karimgonj court. The prominent Muslim leader and philanthropist Juror Motasin Lodi did lots of goods activities for enrichment of the society. He developed roads, schools, madresha, Bazar and others. He was founder of century old Mathiura senior Alia madresha and Darul-ulum Mathiura Hafizia madresha. Teachers and students were come here from many far places for study. His lifetime” Motasin Monjil” Tongi (Tongi means Dorber hall with guest rooms outside of main residence) became as a hostel for those teacher and student.

 Hafiz Moulana Akbar Ali( imam Sylhet Shahjalal Dorgha Mosjid and founder of Sylhet Shahjalal Dorgha Madresha) was one of student of this madresha.

Motasin Lodi was tremendously renowned personality in greater Beani Bazar, Gulapgong, Jokigong and Karimgonj (Present in India) area. At time India partition Juror Motasin Lodi was a front line leader in Karimgonj subdivision. He played vital role Sylhet referendum 1947. For his strong leadership Beani bazar thana became part of east Pakistan at present it is a famous upo-zilla of Bangladesh.  

1948 holy Hajj , this great personality died in Madina Sharif when he was performing the part of the holy hajj and buried in jannatul baki.
