Judiciary Non-Civil Committee (Georgia Senate)

The Senate Judiciary Non-Civil Committee is an eight member legislative body consisting of a chairman, a vice-chairman, a secretary, an ex officio, and four members. The Committee operates under a Senate mandate to regulate the legislative acts that constitute the state's criminal code.

Scope and jurisdiction

The Senate Judiciary Non-Civil Committee has jurisdiction over Georgia's criminal code and procedure, [...] enforcement, sentencing, parole, and pardons. The Committee's scope encompasses any piece of legislation that includes a provision for penalties that could lead to a possibility of criminal prosecution, including matters of juvenile code. The Judiciary Non-Civil Committee receives direct support from the Special Judiciary Committee in fulfilling its obligations.
