Joy Senior Secondary School
Joy Senior Secondary School, Jabalpur (Hindi - """ जॉय सीनिअर सेकेंडरी स्कूल """) was conceptualized in the year 1986. The Joy Education Society, [Jabalpur], runs it. It is a co-ed, English medium Senior Secondary School. It conducts classes from Primary to Senior Secondary Level.
The motto of the school is “Children need models not critics”. Models help in the formation of character and teach them to tackle the hard ships of life. “Joyians” are reminded of their responsibilities of framing their life with the help of models and not criticism.
If the child so joins us for the first time, we welcome you as parents and look forward for a happy and successful association over the coming years. Joy Senior Secondary School has a friendly, family atmosphere and an open door policy. We aim to be at the heart of the community and prepare people to become confident and responsible Indians. Our staff is committed to provide the best possible environment for every child and encouraging and enthusiastic desire for learning.
History
'Joy, journey of years’ is a discovery of many new and interesting things which records the private thoughts, ideas or insights. It directs every one’s attention to the experience and total growth year after year.
‘Joy Primary School’ was conceptualized in the year 1986 with 177 students and was run effectively by the Joy Education Society. Mrs Maben’s legacy of a clean and honest education as well as a strong grasp on Indian values and ethics was unfolded carefully and became the order of the day in the years to come. Gradually the level of education grew from Primary to Middle and finally to Senior Secondary School Level. As the school grew so did the venues change to go along with the burgeoning number of children and their requirement. The Primary School in its embryonic stage began in Agrawal Colony and as the school climbed every successive level it shifted to Napier Town, Wright Town and finally stationed itself in Vijay Nagar with absolute infrastructure to provide facilities not only in the academic field but for the overall development of the child in other required areas. ‘JOY’ was affiliated to Board of Secondary Education M.P. from 1986-2003, but after shifting to Vijay Nagar in 2003 it switched over to Central Board of Secondary Education. JOY SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL has been able to set enviable standards of discipline and academic excellence under the management of Mr. Akhilesh Maben and his able staff.
Founder
Mrs. V. Maben in 1964 on an impulse gathered six children barely five years of age under a drumstick tree and began coaching them in various subjects. Thus she gradually laid the foundation stone for the institution randomly thought and named as ‘JOY’. With conscious effort and attention she worked on the different needs in different subjects among the children thus drawing the attention of other prospective parents to this tiny small statured lady whose size belied her indomitable strength and stubbornness to give up on any child in her care. Progress cards of her students were never printed initially. They were painstakingly drawn and cut in animal shapes. These cards are still lovingly preserved by many of her students who themselves are now parents of teenaged kids.
Mrs. Maben’s sheer hard work and back breaking efforts to grow ‘JOY NURSERY’ as popularly called never ended here. Not one to rest on her laurels she stepped forward in 1985 and handed over her goodwill and vision to grow on a bigger platform to JOY EDUCATION SOCIETY which was formed in the same year.
