Joseph Vukovich

Joseph J. Vukovich is a judge on the Ohio Seventh District Court of Appeals. He was elected to this position in 1996 and was re-elected to 6-year terms in 2002 and 2008. He will be up for re-election again in 2014, when his current term ends.

Biography

Justice Vukovich received his B.A. degree in Political Science from Youngstown State University and his J.D. degree from the University of Akron, College of Law. He served in the Army 101st Airborne Division from 1968 to 1970, including service in Vietnam. He has two sons.

Justice Vukovich worked as an Ohio Assistant Attorney General from 1973 through 1977. He then became a Deputy Law Director in the City of Youngstown. He held this position until 1979, when he was elected to the Ohio General Assembly. From 1979 to 1992, he represented the 52nd District. He was then elected State Senator of for the 33rd District. He held this position until 1996, when he was elected to the Court of Appeals. Throughout his career, from 1978 until 1996, he has also worked as a private practice lawyer.
