Jose Rafael Diaz

Jose Rafael Evangelista Diaz (born April 3, 1968) is the current Mayor of San Mateo, Rizal. He took office on June 30, 2007

Prior to his becoming mayor, Diaz was Municipal Administrator for the San Mateo Rizal Municipal Government. Prior to that, he was a businessman, a STOCK broker and a financial analyst.

Personal Life

Diaz is a son of former Mayor Jose F. Diaz & Leticia E. Diaz . Attended Marist School - Marikina in Highschool. Graduated in 1988 with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Business Management at Ateneo de Manila University. Married to Cristina C. Diaz, a homemaker, and they have four children namely Cullen, Denzel, Dylan & Rafa.

Background

His first job was an Analyst for Visayas and Mindanao Regional Offices for Far East Bank & Trust Co. in the year 1988 – 1999. After a year he was then promoted to Financial Credit Analyst until year 1990. Then become a Trader for Urban Commercial Bank, Trust and Treasury Group for a year (1991 – 1992). After that, he ventured into Stocks, he was then a Stock Broker at Urban Corp. Investments, Inc. from 1992 – 1993. After few years of experience, he finally decided to put up the Jose F. Diaz Construction and Development Corporation and became the Chairman and Chief Operating Officer from year 1995 – 2001. Of the same company, he then become the President and Chief Executive Officer year 2001 – 2004. It was of the same year when public service grasped into his system, the compassion to serve the people started when he worked as a Municipal Administrator for the Local Government of San Mateo, Rizal for two years (June 2004 – July 2006).
