Jordan Credit Union
Jordan Credit Union is a financial institution headquartered in Sandy, Utah and is regulated under the authority of the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) as a not-for-profit organization. Founded in 1950, Jordan Credit Union began serving the financial needs of Jordan School District employees and today it serves anyone in Salt Lake County. Currently, Jordan Credit Union has an asset size of over $200 million, six fully accessible locations serving more than 25,000 members and is ranked 12th by asset size among Utah credit unions.
History
Jordan Credit Union was organized on December 9, 1950 with 17 members and no assets. On January 16, 1951 the credit union received its charter and became a financial institution operating collectively for Jordan School District employees and their families.
In May of 1958, Jordan Credit Union moved out of a Jordan School District employee’s house and into a previously owned Jordan School District building. By 1968, the credit union relocated its main office across the street from the Jordan School District administration office in Sandy, Utah and continues to operate as the main office for Jordan Credit Union.
By November 2000, Jordan Credit Union had expanded its field of membership to include anyone who resides in Salt Lake County, Utah. Today, although Jordan Credit Union operates under different guidelines, the credit union maintains its roots, which is still noticeable from its office locations and school participation.
In 2009, Jordan Credit Union’s original field of membership, Jordan School District, was split into two separate districts as a result of the November 2007 referendum vote by the residents of Alta, Cottonwood Heights, Draper, Midvale and Sandy. Canyons School District was born. With the introduction of a new school district, Jordan Credit Union opened a new location inside the relocated auxiliary services building of Jordan School District. Currently, the Jordan Credit Union location inside the Jordan School District auxiliary services building is only accessible to Jordan School District employees.
Today, Jordan Credit Union continues to serve the financial needs of Canyons and Jordan School District by having convenient locations surrounding administration offices and schools. Moreover, Canyons and Jordan School District employees and their immediate family account for the largest portion of membership for Jordan Credit Union.
Services
Jordan Credit Union maintains its roots by offering products and services for children, adults and retirees, much like it was originally structured to meet school district employees and their families. The credit union offers savings accounts, youth accounts, senior accounts, checking accounts, money market accounts, certificates of deposit, individual retirement accounts, loans (including student, auto, personal, mortgage, lines of credit, one-time fee cash advances, credit cards, recreational and business), insurance, debt counseling and online banking.
Community Involvement
Jordan Credit Union provides help and involvement within the Canyons and Jordan School District, as well as the entire community, helping to promote the financial well-being of its members and local public. Jordan Credit Union participates in the following charities: Primary Children’s Medical Center, Boys and Girls Clubs throughout Salt Lake County, school donations (including scholarships, student sponsorship, school sponsorship and other money contributions), Warm the Soles of Utah and member scholarship drawings, among others.
