Joanne Kwong

Joanne Kwong is an Asian-American business leader and local community leader. Kwong is a New York City native and current president of Chinatown Manhattans’s iconic Pearl River Mart.
Education and Career
Kwong is a product of NYC public schools, and holds degrees from Stuyvesant High School, Columbia University, Duke Law School, and Duke Graduate School. She graduated Columbia University in [https://www.college.columbia.edu/cct/issue/summer17/article/joanne-kwong-%E2%80%9997-revives-iconic-pearl-river-mart 1997 where she majored in political science and psychology.] Prior to joining Pearl River Mart Kwong held the role of attorney and vice president for communications at Barnard College.
Family Life
Kwong is the daughter of Chinese immigrants from the Philippines She is married and has two sons.
Community Efforts
Early on in the Covid-19 crisis Kwong utilized her supply chain connections to (PPE) KN95 masks to Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, NY. An ongoing Go-Fund-Me campaign went on to raise over $60,000 towards PPE with ongoing distribution of
Kwon stepped forward in 2020 as a local community leader in the movement during Covid-19 as well as the One-World Collection with the Museum of Chinese in America.
