Jimmy Wilkinson Meyer

Jimmy Wilkinson Meyer (b. 1947) is an American writer and researcher on women's issues. Meyer is the coauthor of U.S. Aging Policy Interest Groups: Institutional Profiles, and sole researcher and author of Any Friend of the Movement: Networking for Birth Control, 1920–1940, a study of the rise of family planning clinics in Cleveland, Ohio in the early 20th Century. She currently serves on the board of directors at Planned Parenthood of Northeastern Ohio, an affiliate of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

Meyer's work observes of the transformative power of individuals in society, particularly individual women. She approaches her research scientifically, allowing facts revealed in historical documents to accumulate to often surprising conclusions. In detailing the limitations to action historically placed on women in society, she also uncovers of acts of heroism within private lives. In particular, the seemingly contradictory viewpoints of the upper class, whites-only eugenics movement and the progressive, socialist-informed women's health reform movement are shown to be interdependent, sometimes coexisting within the same individual or groups of individuals.

Meyer is also the mother of Bryant Clifford Meyer, keyboardist/guitarist for Isis (band) and Red Sparowes.
