Jetix (Latin America)

Jetix Latin America was a cable television channel and was an EDition of The Walt Disney Company-owned Toon Disney/Jetix broadcast to Latin America. It was broadcast in thee feeds, North Zone, Central Zone and South Zone. It featured action-related live-action and animated programming. It re-runed former series of Disney Channel Latin America. Jetix Latin America was operated by Disney & ESPN Media Networks and The Walt Disney Company Latin America, both owned by The Walt Disney Company. It was previously known as Fox Kids and became Jetix on July 31, 2004.

Jetix Latin America became the Latin American version of Disney XD on July 3, 2009, being launched after the end of the "Disney Football Cup".

Disney XD Rebranding

The Walt Disney Company Latin America and Disney & ESPN Media Networks Latin America announced on May 15, 2009 that the channel will be rebranded as "Disney XD" along with Jetix Brazil. The rebranding follows previous rebrandings of Toon Disney in the United States and Jetix in France also to Disney XD. The channel launched on July 3, 2009 after the closing events of the 2009 Disney Football Cup (previously known as Jetix Kids Football Cup and Fox Kids Football Cup). The official website was launched on May 15, 2009.

Programs

Disney XD Latin America, like Disney XD United States and Disney XD France is focused on a male audience. As June 10, 2009 Disney has officially announced some series, while others are still in negotiations.

History

The channel started as Fox Kids and was the Fox Broadcasting Company's children's programming division and brand name in Latin America. It aired some original series and movies, and the "Copa Fox Kids" (Fox Kids Cup) once a year.

In the year 2002, Fox Family Worldwide is sold to The Walt Disney Company and eventually all the television networks from it were changing its names and logos. Fox Family became ABC Family and international channel were also changing.

In July, 2004 the first "Jetix" promos aired on Fox Kids Latin America, and the last week of July a countdown started, saying how many days were left until Jetix come.

On July 31, 2004 at midnight the channel changed to Jetix, but some promos kept on air until some weeks later.

Since then, Jetix Latin America has the same promos and intros, they have never been changed. It airs some original programming, movies and third-party series and movies. The "Copa Fox Kids" became "Copa Jetix" and it is still aired every year.

Jetix Latin America also aires programming from Disney Channel that has been dropped or has ended.

The Disney Channel Original Movie, Camp Rock premiered on Jetix several week later that its premiere on Disney Channel.

Late in 2008, Disney Channel Worldwide stated that Jetix Latin America, will become Disney XD in 2009.

On May 15, 2009, it was announced that Jetix Latin America will become the Latin American version of Disney XD, being launched on July 3, 2009. As a part of the rebranding, the "Jetix Football Cup" (previously known as "Fox Kids Football Cup") was renamed "Disney Football Cup".

Its programming was divided in some programming blocks, as "Súper Horas" (Super Hours), where only different generations of Power Rangers are aired, "Noches mágicas" (Magic nights) where several The Fairly OddParents are aired in a row. Cinescopio, where different movies (including Disney Channel Original Movies) are aired.
