Jessica Husband
Jessica Husband (born 20 March 2008) is a Scottish footballer who plays as a defender or wing-back for Scottish Women's Premier League club Heart of Midlothian. She has represented Scotland at under-16, under-17 and under-19 level.
Club career
Husband joined the Heart of Midlothian academy from Raith Rovers in 2019 alongside her twin sister Erin. She was part of the Hearts under-16 team which won a domestic treble before progressing to the senior side.
Her first competitive start for Hearts came aged 15 on 7 January 2024, in a 9–0 Scottish Women's Cup win against Edinburgh Caledonia. She became increasingly involved with the first team during the second half of the 2023–24 season and signed her first professional contract in April 2024, agreeing a deal until 2027. Husband started the 2023–24 Women's Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park, where Hearts lost 2–0 to Rangers in the club's first major women's final. She was named Hearts Women's Rising Star at the club's end-of-season awards.
Husband scored in Hearts' opening league match of the 2024–25 season against Queen's Park. She then scored twice and provided two assists in an 8–0 win over Dundee United, after which the Scottish Women's Premier League named her its Star Player in its Team of the Week. A further goal against Montrose in January 2025 earned her another place in the league's Team of the Week. Hearts extended her contract to the summer of 2028 in May 2025. At the time, she had made 25 appearances during the season, predominantly at wing-back.
On 7 September 2025, Husband scored Hearts' second goal in a 2–0 Edinburgh derby win over Hibernian at Tynecastle Park. The strike was subsequently voted Hearts Women's Goal of the Season. During the closing stages of the season she remained a regular in the side and was included in a BBC Sport Team of the Week after Hearts' goalless draw with Glasgow City. Hearts finished the campaign as SWPL champions, the first league championship in the club's history.
Husband made her UEFA Women's Champions League debut in August 2026 as Hearts entered European competition for the first time. She started their 2–1 win over Lithuanian club FC Gintra and also played in the subsequent 2–1 defeat by HB Køge.
International career
Husband represented Scotland at under-16 level before progressing to the under-17 team. She made 15 appearances for the under-17s and also captained the side during her time at that level.
She subsequently moved into the Scotland under-19 squad, taking part in UEFA European Championship qualifying campaigns during the 2025–26 season.
