Jerome Sala

Jerome Sala (born November 29, 1986) is Filipino singer who was dubbed "Balladeer Extraordinaire" who was discovered on the first series of Philippine singing competition Search for a Star In Million in 2005 on ABS-CBN network. Since his 2005 win, Sala has become a phenomenal until he becomes inactive after going back to his province.

Early life and career

Born Jerome Sala Ucab on November 29, 1986 in Barangay Bacagay, Pilar, Bohol, Philippines, to Municipal Councilor Jaime Ucab and Ruth Sala, Jerome is the third of four children.

Sala was joining and winning in barangay, fiesta, and municipal singing contests, even traveling to nearby islands in small dinghies to join competitions.

Sala’s singing was discovered when he was a kid. His father encouraged him to become a singer to prove that the family’s singing genes safely passed on to him from his grandfather. According to the people of Pilar, at age five, Jerome had proven his father’s theory and won his very first singing trophy. His winning piece was "Usahay," a popular Visayan song. One in a Million is Sala's winning song, had already won him countless prizes in many singing contests.

He finished his elementary education at Bagacay Elementary School and high school at Virgen del Pilar Academy. He enver finished college at Bohol Institute of Technology when it was interrupted when he joined the national singing search.

Sala auditioned for Search for a Star in a Million held in Cebu City. While filling up the form, his entry was “Ucab, Jerome Sala.” It was an honest mistake of the Search for a Star in a Million’s staff as she thought Jerome’s family name was Sala.

He was a wild card and Jerome has been in the danger zone for the past Sundays and his fans, especially girls, were hopefuls that Jerome could make it to the Search for the Star in a Million (SSIAM) "Champions League of Five."

Personal life

Sala is a simple lad from Pilar town who has gone that far in being at the top of the country’s premier search for music idol in 2005. After a promising career in Manila, Sala is back in his hometown Pilar. He got married and has a one year old daughter to Honey. He is managing his family hollowblock business.
