JB Rowley
JB Rowley whose full name is June Barnes-Rowley was born in Orbost, Victoria and is now is a Melbourne based storyteller and author. JB began her writing career as a teenager with short stories published in national magazines but did not make her debut as a novelist until July 2007 with the publication of Whisper My Secret.
Whisper My Secret was an instant success selling out of its first print run even before its launch. Its arrival in one country town coincided with the arrival of the latest Harry Potter book and yet it was Whisper My Secret that sold the most copies in a town with a healthy population of children evidenced in the town’s three schools. Whisper My Secret is a true story based on the life of JB’s mother, Myrtle Rowley, whose secret about the loss of her first three children only came to light after her death in 1995.
