Jason T Brown
Jason T Brown is an American class action lawyer, consumer rights advocate, and a former FBI Agent. Brown is the founder of The JTB Law Group, a law firm based in Jersey City, NJ. He is best known for his series of lawsuits against Merck's birth control product. The case was settled for $100 million after 8 years in February 2014.
Early life
Brown is an identical twin who grew up in Edison, New Jersey and Westlake Village, California. He was elected as student body president in high school and at Rutgers University. During his time at John P. Stevens, he co-authored articles with Time and Los Angeles Times columnist Joel Stein.
Career
Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
Brown entered the FBI in 1998 and was trained in Quantico, Virginia for 16 weeks. He was appointed as a Special Agent and was deployed to the Newark Division to handle organized crime investigations and other related activities. During his career at FBI, Brown handled investigations including the Daniel Pearl kidnapping, the Anthrax investigation, and the 9/11 attack.
Legal career
After FBI, Brown went out to private practice of law and became a licensed Private Investigator. He had Judicial Clerkship, and then entered FBI which he was already a licensed attorney. Brown became a plaintiffs trial lawyer with focus on consumer rights, consumer fraud, wage and hour violations and vies for leadership roles. He founded a law firm The JTB Law Group, hardhearted in New Jersey City. His noted case came from a case that commenced in 2006 by him against pharmaceutical company Merck & Co. He commenced the battery of cases that was ultimately settled after 8 years for 100 million dollars.
