Jason Press

Jason Press (born November 19, 1971) is an American investment strategist and political scientist specializing in financial markets and global political risk. He is the head of the global markets division of Eurasia Group, a political risk research and consulting firm founded by Ian Bremmerin 1998 with offices in New York City, Washington, London, Tokyo, São Paulo, San Francisco, and Singapore. Eurasia Group provides analysis and expertise about how political developments and geopolitics move markets and shape investment environments across the globe.I

Life and career

Press is of Jewish and German descent. He is the son of Jim Press, a prominent figure in the automotive industry, and Linda Bergsten. He grew up in Kansas City, earned a BA in International Relations and Spanish from Tufts University and a Master's in International Relations from Columbia University in 1994.

Prior to joining Eurasia Group, Jason worked at Citigroup and Goldman Sachs in the investment strategy division. Press also worked at Barings and Banorte in the asset allocation division. Press was a congressional appointee, working on the passage of NAFTA for Jan Meyers, the first Republican woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from Kansas.Jan Meyers

Jason is involved in several academic, professional and philanthropic organizations including Princeton-in-Asia, PeaceJam, AmFAR, Trevor Project and he has been a member of the CFA Institute since 2010.

A current member of USA Triathlon, Jason finished in top quintile of age group in four Olympic-sized triathlons.

Jason Press married Caleb Hartzler, who works in real estate development, in New York City in April 2012.
