Jason Jones (pitcher)
Jason Matthew Jones (born November 20, in ) is a starting pitcher in the Minnesota Twins organization currently assigned to their triple A affiliate, the Rochester Red Wings. Jones is 6'5" and weighs 225 pounds. He bats and throws right handed.
Jones attended Liberty University in Virginia, and was drafted by the New York Yankees in the fourth round of the 2004 Major League Baseball Draft. After posting a 10-17 record in his first two professional seasons, Jones went 9-2 with a 2.55 earned run average with the Tampa Yankees in to earn a Florida State League All-star nod. He was promoted to the double A Trenton Thunder for the second half of the season, where he went 4-3 with a 4.83 ERA.
Following a less-than stellar campaign that saw him go 8-11 in Trenton (he did, however, earn pitcher of the week honors July 2-8, going 2-0 with a 0.90 ERA in two starts against the Harrisburg Senators), he returned to All-star form in , going 13-7 with a 3.33 ERA. He also made two starts with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons, going 0-1 with a 2.38 ERA. He was selected by the Twins in the 2008 Rule 5 draft.
