Jamil Ghani
Jamil Ghani is an Pakistani-Cuban executive, Worldwide Vice President of Amazon Prime, and former Senior Vice President of Enterprise Strategy at Target, Inc.
Jamil graduated from Harvard University in 1999 earning a degree in Economics and Computer Science.
Jamil began his career at the Boston Consulting Group after graduating from Harvard. In the role, Jamil advised
companies on building and scaling online platforms during the internet boom. Notably, Jamil was promoted to the position of
Consultant in just 18 months after joining the company, a promotion reserved for those who already hold an MBA.
In 2002, he resigned to take an sabbatical before pursuing an MBA.
Jamil served as an pro-bono consultant for Management Leadership for Tomorrow, a non profit focused on helping minorities reach corporate leadership positions from 2002 to 2003.
In 2003, Jamil was admitted to the Harvard Business School, graduating in 2004 as a Baker Scholar.
Upon graduation, he joined General Mills as an Associate Marketing Manager, and served in the position for 3 years.
After working at General Mills, Jamil joined the Walt Disney Company as the Director of Global Marketing, Strategy, and Planning. In the position, he was responsible for leading Disney's expansion across International Markets.
Jamil served from 2007 to 2011. In 2011, he joined Target as a Director, and was promoted through several leadership positions until reaching the rank of SVP, Enterprise Strategy and Innovation. During his time at Target, he is credited with pioneering Target's online shopping experiences, including Buy Online, Pick up in Store (BOPIS), and Buy in Store and Ship to Home. He also founded TechStars+Target, and established an entrepreneurial residence program to bring outside talent to the company.
In January 2017, he resigned from his position at Target upon being poached from Amazon.
He currently serves as the Worldwide Vice President of Amazon Prime.
