Biography
Little is known AbOUT the life of Jamie Behar prior to the formation of Saetia. In an interview with the band in Plumber's Butt fanzine from 1998, Jamie states that he does not recall any events in his life prior to 1992 due to a severe head injury he suffered at a Lunachicks concert. Shortly after that tragic event, Dr. Raphael Hankenberry, a notable NYC neurologist, diagnosed him as having Kluver-Bucy syndrome, an illness that would explain his amnestic condition as well as several other of his psycho-[...] abnormalities. The same physician has also postulated that Jamie Behar is descended from Prussian royalty, as indicated by the greater prevalence of said neurological condition in the Prussian aristocracy as well as the presence of his superfluous third nipple. Despite this impediment, Jamie Behar completed his high school education at Sammy Davis Jr. Memorial High and attended New York University while supporting himself working NiGHTS as a salmon gutter in NYC's legendary Fulton Street fishmarket. His entrance into the music scene occurred during his college years, catalyzed both by his interest in the rich cultural sounds that surrounded him on Manhattans Lower East Side and his unfortunate dismissal from Fulton Street due to an incident he had with a lusty fishwife on top of the mackeral juice sluice. He graduated from New York University in 1998 with a double major in Biology and Medical Klingon, both of which have served him well in his endeavors as a burgeoning physician in the central Brooklyn area. He began attending SUNY Downstate Medical College in 2003 after a brief hiatus from academia when he was furiously courting a partially deflated football he met in Flagstaff, Arizona while on tour with Saetia. The romance, however, did not last. Jamie Behar has gone on the record regarding the failed love affair as saying, "Regretfully, my peeps was on the fritz."
MusicAL Career
Jamie formed Saetia in 1997 with vocalist Billy Werner, drummer Greg Drudy, guitarist Adam Marino and bassist Alex Madara. They released their self-titled Ep on Level Plane records, followed by their self-titled full length on Mountain Co-op records and a final 7" on Witching Hour records entitled "Eronel". The band broke up in 1999. Shortly after the break up, he formed Off Minor with bass player Matt Smith, and drummer\vocalist Steve Roche, both of whom had been in Saetia at the end of the bands existence. Off Minor is known for their significant Jazz influence incorporated into their chaotic sound. They currently have two full-lengths (The Heat Death of the Universe, and Innominate), one split LP with I Am The Resurrection (the material on the split LP was re-released as a CDEP) and three split EPs with Life Detecting Coffins, St. Albans Kids (Australia) and My Disco (Australia).
Jamie is also currently playing bass in NY/NJ area band Olde Ghost.
