Jagath Ramanayake
Jagath Ramanayake is a Sri Lankan Entrepreneur based in Japan.
Early life and education
Jagath was born in Colombo as a only son to a family of three siblings. His parents were pioneering Japanese car exporters in Sri Lanka.
Educated at Nalanda College Colombo and entered University of Yokohama to complete his tertiary education in Japan where he obtained B.Sc in business. Later he completed a MBA at University of Tokyo.
Jagath was keen sportsman at Nalanda where he captained the Rugby 1st XV – Nalanda College (1985) and “A – Division Rugby – Peterson Club” (1987–1988). Currently he is the team coach for “ALHI FOOTBALL CLUB” in Yokohama, Japan.
Family
In 1996 Jagath married Miss Samantha Subasinghe, a solicitor. Jagath and Samantha have four children.
Career
Apart from being the President of Rama Group Ltd – Yokohama, Japan Jagath is the President – Sri Lanka Business Council of Japan (SLBCJ) since 2007, Chief Advisor to “Lanka-Ji” Temple Chiba & Director of the Board of Trustees. He is also the Chief Adviser to the Sri Lanka Students Association in Japan.
Honors
In year 2003, Jagath Ramanayake received “Wishwa Keerthi Deshabandu” one of the most prestigious awards in the country for his social services to Sri Lanka and its community.
