Jade Lotus
HISTORY
Jade Lotus is one of eastern North Carolina's most profound underground hip-hop artists and producers. He began his hip-hop career in early 1994 by the name of Lord Jiru Starr, or LJS. While shaping his skills later that year, and after meeting his beat protege, Kazmir K, and connecting with his long-time partner in rhyme, OB-1 Kanobi, he began the formula for one of North Carolina's hottest underground camps, the Black Jedii Squad. Changing his name to "THE BOUNTY HUNTA" and acting as co-producer for the Black Jedii Squad, he began to come into his own. With notable tracks like "Murda Rapp" "Four Seasons" and "Dark Knight", it was easy to see that a true hip hop artist was born. His group, the Black Jedii Squad, also known as the Jedii Knightz, opened up for numerous headliners at local venues across the central North Carolinas in the mid to late 1990s.
After struggling with a number of Situations, Jade Lotus's group was re-invented into DEFCON 5 or simply DEFCON, where Jade Lotus was the executive producer. At that time he was known as Phoenix Down, and was working on his currently unreleased album entitled, "Dormant in the Hills of Obsession".
After a few years went by, he teamed up with Mic Sera, and formed the hip-hop/alternative group Team Futurists. In 2006, the production duo released their album debut, "Army Of One".
In 2007, Jade Lotus is working on his second album project with Team Futurists, entitled "Rude Awakening", and yet another project with his first cousin, Omniscent, on a project entitled, "Next of Kin".
