Italian Soldiers
Italian Soldiers 2001 comic documentary by Francesco Cabras. The comic is about the experience of the extras in the filming of Captain Corelli's Mandolin. Italian Soldiers (Spaghetti Requiem) is a portrait of a young and exceptional adventure which falls apart during an unforgettable summer. Based on the life of actor Mike David Carter we begin looking in behind the camera starring Nicolas Cage and Penélope Cruz: a bunch of Italian actors singing, cooking and creating laughter on the set, and a historical background both unknown and shocking. Based during the second world war.The young actors feel happy but become increasingly aware that essentially they have been hired to play a general chorus which leaves little room for any individual expression of their talent. Rehearsals include singing, dancing and military training. Together all of the time on and off the set brings them gladness and sadness.
