Ismir Mirvić
Ismir Mirvić (born 7 May 1979, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina) is a Bosnian-American entrepreneur and football executive. He is the President and majority stakeholder of FK Sarajevo, one of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s leading football clubs, and has played a key role in its strategic development, infrastructure investment, and international partnerships.
Early life and business career
Mirvić was born in Sarajevo and later moved abroad, living in Germany and the United States. He built a career in the IT and venture-capital sectors before entering sports management. In 2020, his company Co-Protect – co-founded with Tom Penn and others – supplied branded protective face masks to major U.S. sports leagues including the NBA, WNBA and MLS during the COVID-19 pandemic, a venture covered by Forbes magazine.
Involvement with FK Sarajevo
In September 2021, Mirvić and Malaysian investor Vincent Tan assumed majority ownership of FK Sarajevo, with Mirvić becoming President of the club’s board. Under his leadership, the club has focused on financial stability, modernization of facilities, and youth development.
The club joined the international TransferRoom network to expand its global scouting and recruitment strategy, described by Mirvić as “an investment, not an expense.”
In 2025, multiple media outlets reported that FK Sarajevo entered into a strategic partnership with Malaysian prince and billionaire Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, with plans to create the “Crown Prince Ismail Football Academy” in Sarajevo to improve youth training and international cooperation. Mirvić described the deal as “a turning point not only for our club but for Bosnian-Herzegovinian football as a whole.”
Involvement in women’s football
Mirvić also became a co-owner of SFK 2000 Sarajevo, the most successful women’s football club in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In February 2024 the club completed what was described as the biggest transfer in the history of Bosnian women’s football, sending player Marija Ana Milinković to Inter Milan. Mirvić praised the move as a sign of professional management and international ambition.
