Islamic Azad University of Kermanshah
Established in 1990, the Islamic Azad University, Kermanshah Branch is the largest educational center to the west of Iran. It is equipped with various laboratories and workshops and trains students for highly skilled work. The university admits students in undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with both qualitative and quantitative assets. Currently the students study in the following fields: Graduate Studies, Engineering, Agriculture, Science, Humanities, and Political Science.
Since its establishment, Dr. Ezzatollah Farshadfar, Dr. Ali Moradi, Professor Mohammad Bagher Gholivand, the late Sayed Davood Fahmi, Dr. Mehdi Safdari, and Dr. Keivan Ghodrati have been the presidents of the university respectively.
At present, Dr. Nowzar Ghanbari is the president of the university. He was born in Kermanshah in 1972. He has been collaborating as a full-time faculty member since 2003. He has PhD in Geography from Islamic Azad University, Science and Technology Branch. He has assumed different positions during these years among which are the head of Geography Department, Education Deputy, Dean of Science, and No. 11 Regional Secretariat. He is also one of the more prolific researchers in the university and has several times been nominated as Top Researcher.
According to the IAU, Kermanshah Branch is ranked as a very large university with 15000 students studying at undergraduate and graduate levels. These students are supported by different offices such as Finance and Administration, Research and Technology, the Registrar, and Development and Sama.
