Isaac Astill
Isaac Astill (born 1993, Adelaide) is an Australian organiser, campaigner and climate change activist. He was the Bob Brown Young Environmentalist of the Year in 2013, for his efforts in campaigning against proposed coal ports along the Great Barrier Reef.
Education and Career
Isaac was bought up in Yankalilla, South Australia where he attended the local area school.
Australian Youth Climate Coalition
Shortly after leaving school, Isaac joined the Australian Youth Climate Coalition (AYCC), and was a member of their delegation to the 2011 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Durban, South Africa. Later, Isaac was the National Tour Manager for Co-Founder and Chair of the AYCC Anna Rose with her book Madlands: A Journey to Change the Mind of a Climate Sceptic.
Proposed Coal Ports
Isaac studied politics and philosophy at Flinders University, before withdrawing from his degree to move to Queensland in an attempt to help communities campaign against locally proposed coal ports along the coast of the Great Barrier Reef. Later in 2013, Isaac was awarded the Bob Brown Young Environmentalist of the Year for his efforts.
Personal life
Isaac currently lives in Canberra, where he is the Director of Campaigns for Make Me Fossil Free.
